About

The Downs Netball Club started in the 1950s by school teachers from the Ursuline Convent School, Downs Road, Wimbledon from which the name originates.

The club soon became a high performing club and has produced many international players over the years and can claim to be the top club in Surrey.

We field five senior teams and have a very flourishing Junior Section with over 140 members from 9 years upwards. The Downs participate in both adult and junior leagues at a range of levels which enables players to reach competitive and elite level netball.

We are the only club in Surrey that offers the opportunity of playing senior club netball at the highest level, with a team in division two of the Premier League, whilst our youngest team, the Under 11s, enter the popular Surrey Junior League.

As of June 2024 The Downs Netball Club has gained Charitable Interest Company Status which will provide opportunities in the new era of professional netball. We have in place a board of directors and implemented a structure that secures the future of the club while supporting the future of our great game.

Our Premier League and Regional League squads train every Wednesday at City of London Freeman’s School, Ashtead and Met/u19 with performance U16’s train out of Glyn School, Epsom between 7.30 and 9.30pm.
