The Downs is an ambitious club who understands that getting to the top is a long journey that starts with loving what you do first! This means developing a high level of basic skills, understanding how to get fit, as well as developing good connections with your teams mates on and off the court.
The Junior section of the Club includes Under 10’s, Under 11’s, Under 12’s, Under 13’s and U14 Squads as well as NEW for 26/27 an U14/U13 performance training squad.
Our coaching team is comprised of individuals who are deeply passionate about netball. The majority hold a Level Two qualification from England Netball, while others hold their Level One certification or are are currently working towards it. Many are also experienced schoolteachers. Many of our coaches have played, or continue to play, netball at a high level, bringing both expertise and enthusiasm to their coaching.
Training
Training is held on Sundays 10-11.30am at St John’s, Off Garlands Road, Leatherhead, KT22 7JD. First session back is on the 30th August 2026. Training runs from this date to end of March with breaks for some half terms/holidays.
Fixtures for U11 and above will be on some Sundays and will replace training on those dates for players selected – dates and times will be shared once we have these confirmed.
NEW for 26/27 – we will be selecting an U14/U13 performance squad and will offer additional training to these players on a Wednesday evening 7-8.30pm at Blenheim High school in Epsom (selected players only, additional fees required)
Subs
At The Downs subs pay for facilities and coaching at training. We offer skill development and match play in every session for every member but we cannot guarantee league matches for everyone, on every occasion. We select teams based on your availability and willingness to want to play not just as an individual but also in combination with other players on the court and consideration of the opposition. For those not selected for matches we aim to run training sessions as a replacement (depending on coaches availability).
Subs for 2026/27 Season cost £330 include;
- Entry into leagues.
- All Sunday training from Sept to March.
- Coaching from Sept to March.
- Match venue hire.
- Umpire fees.
- Equipment, Balls Bibs and first aid.
- Match Fees.
- Overall Costs of running The Downs Netball Club.
Additional subs will be required for U14/U13 performance additional training.
We are a Community interest company so any profit the club makes is reinvested into the club.
There are a number of things that the club does NOT fund and we still require help and volunteers to deliver netball for our players. If you are able to help out please get in touch.
- Match day helpers to score and time; or help run a team where we have more than one team per age group.
- Team Managers
- Volunteers to help run the admin/membership of the club (e.g. booking umpires, signing players up)
